REVIEW: Lego Mclaren P1

Lets begin this review with a few high level thoughts.

What a build!!! This is a long build, it took about a month of casual building, usually 1-2 bags a day. End to end this is an 18 hour build.

Only minor repetition.

That gearbox is complex.

No stickers. What a relief.

The set is presented in a sturdy box. Opening the box you see 3 separate boxes with the 2 instruction books underneath. These are big books, approximately 400 pages each.

Each section of the box covers a key activity, e.g.) build the gearbox.

After a lot of initial time spent building the gearbox, the chassis of the car is quickly reached. This leaves the second instruction book to focus on the body elements, this is where the mild repetition occurs, as you begin building the left side components, and then repeat with the right side.

And then it is done. The steering wheel is functional, along with those scissor doors, and retractable spoiler. The flappy paddle gearbox is also functional, but almost impossible to test how each gear affects the engine rotation.
